Barclays Think Talent Legal Insight Programme is a unique opportunity for aspiring solicitors with neurodiverse characteristics. The programme is run in conjunction with Aspiring Solicitors, autism charity Caretrade and six leading law firms.

Participants will gain first-hand experience of both private practice at top law firms and in-house legal work at Barclays, a leading global financial services organisation.

This programme is open exclusively to Aspiring Solicitors members who are autistic or otherwise neurodivergent. We are proud to offer the only initiative of its kind in the UK and Ireland.

Key information

Dates: Monday 8 – Friday 12 June 2026.

Times: 9:00am – 5pm each day.

Locations: In-person at Barclays offices and partner law firms in London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham.

Location choice: When applying, you must select at least one preferred location. You may choose a second preference if you wish.

Support and reasonable adjustments

Programme structure

Days 1, 2 and 5: Hosted by Barclays in your chosen location.

Days 3 and 4: Hosted by partner law firms in your chosen location.

Sessions include:

  • The roles of an in-house lawyer and a private practice lawyer
  • Pitch case study introductions and presentation skills
  • Career insight: alternative paths to a legal career
  • CV deep dive and interview preparation
  • Topical areas of law (e.g., ESG, AI, Consumer Duty)
  • Disclosure of neurodiversity in the workplace
  • Networking skills

Eligibility

To apply for this opportunity, you must:

  • be an Aspiring Solicitors member;
  • be autistic or otherwise neurodivergent;
  • be an undergraduate who is penultimate year law, final year law or final year non-law, GDL or LPC student, graduate or career changer;
  • have received or be on target for at least a 2.1 degree classification (excluding mitigating circumstances);
  • meet any requirements from your university or employer for participation, and comply with any visa conditions. If you are in the UK on a study visa, you will need a letter from your place of study (we will provide a template);
  • have an interest in pursuing a legal career at a commercial law firm; and
  • not have accepted a training contract with any law firm or legal team.

Expenses

The programme is unpaid; however, reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed. If financial barriers would prevent you from participating, successful candidates may contact Aspiring Solicitors for support, subject to meeting specific financial eligibility criteria.
