I am a Managing Associate at Linklaters LLP.

Coming from a non-law degree, I was always somewhat apprehensive when attending assessment days for vacation schemes and training contracts. I always felt like I would be at a disadvantage, but I quickly discovered how to use my History degree to my advantage in interviews. I also found out that commercial awareness is much more important than one’s degree for most law firms.

I was born and raised in a disadvantaged area of West London, and attended a secondary school where most shied away from attending University. Therefore I understand what it is like to feel as if a career in law, or any city profession, is beyond one’s reach simply because of circumstance. Diversity in this profession of race, gender and background are not only needed, but sought after. This is why I believe that Aspiring Solicitors is an excellent vehicle for students that want to join the legal profession, who may have thought it an impossible feat. Regardless of who you may be or where you come from, all you need is an inquisitive mind, passion for and commitment to law, and it will carry you forwards!
