Profile:

I’m a trainee solicitor currently working with the Restructuring and Insolvency team. Law has been a consistent theme throughout my career, from serving as a police officer to later working in Information Technology, where I implemented and supported child protection case management software for local councils.

As a police officer, my responsibilities were varied and unpredictable. A typical day might begin with preparing a court case file, only to be interrupted by an urgent radio call to attend a domestic incident. Early interactions with CPS lawyers, when seeking charging advice, sparked my curiosity about pursuing a career in law.

As a mature career changer, my path has been somewhat unconventional. I attended a state secondary school and later studied with the Open University over several years to complete my IT degree – balancing parenting and study along the way. I then left a stable full-time career of over 20 years to complete a full-time GDL, committing fully to my transition into law.

I believe diversity in the workplace is vital. Career changers bring with them a wealth of experiences and transferable skills, which can greatly enrich the legal profession. I would be very happy to share my experiences with anyone.
